Two 50-over World Cups have been held in the subcontinent before this, in 1996 and 2011, both of which were hosted by three countries. While India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka shared the 1996 event, the 2011 World Cup took place in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. “In the past, India used to get one ICC event in 16-18 years.
