AAP leader booked for ‘assaulting’ Moga Bar body president
Moga: AAP district president Nasib Singh Bawa and 15 others have been booked for allegedly assaulting district Bar association president Rajpal Sharma. However, no one was arrested till the filing of this report.
Sharma said he had called a meeting of the Bar association on the premises of the district courts’ complex on Monday during which Bawa, also a lawyer, and his associates allegedly assaulted him after a verbal duel. “They also threatened me of dire consequences,” he told the police.
A senior police officer said a criminal case under sections 379-B, 341, 506 and 149 of the IPC had been registered against Bawa, district bar association general secretary Jagdish Bawa, Karan Sachdeva, Navish Jain, Hardeep Singh, Harman Singh and some unidentified persons.
Sharma said the AAP leader leveled certain allegations against him regarding functioning of the association and when he tried to clarify, Bawa and his associates attacked him. Sharma alleged that some of his gold ornaments and a watch were also stolen during the clash.
Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a dispute between Bawa and Sharma over the president’s post, which led to the scuffle. Earlier, Bawa had been the president of the Bar association for about 15 years but he lost the post in the last elections.
