Sirsa-based sect chief was pardoned following his written apology for appearing before a congregation attired as the 10th Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh, in 2007. The incident had triggered clashes between Sikhs and Dera followers, and the Takht ordered the sect leader’s social boycott.
Some organizations were unhappy with the decision to pardon him without him physically appear before the Takht. They said the Dera chief got away with the offence after making some underhand deal with Badals and Five Jathedars were actually working on dictates from Badals.
