Armed with ‘audio-visual proof’, TDP attacks BJP on unfulfilled promises

Tirupati: Four years ago, in 2014, on the same day (April 30) at the abode of Lord Balaji in Tirupati, Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha  elections “made several promises to 5 crore people of Andhra Pradesh, including according Special Category Status to the state”, claims BJP’s now-estranged partner TDP.The venue was also the same — Venkataswara University Stadium in the foothills of seven hills of Tirumala behind which the powerful Lord Venkatashwara has his abode.Coincidentally it also rained that day, like it did today.Armed with “audio-visual proof of his promises”, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is holding its show of strength from the same location — for the BJP and PM Modi.Christened “Kutra Rajakeeyalapai Dharma Porata Bahiranga Sabha” (Fight against betrayal and collusion politics – public meeting), the aim is to “remind Modi of his promises”, say leaders of the party which walked out of NDA just a couple of weeks back.Four years gone by and none of the promises got fulfilled, they add, stating that the aim if the public meeting is to remind Narendra Modi of “going back on promises made at the abode of Lord Balaji in Tirupati”.  It is one the many events TDP president and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu will address in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to boost his sagging fortunes.A highlight, apart from high-voltage speeches and thumping music on the stage set in party colours of bright yellow, was “audio-video visual proof of Modi making promises to AP four years ago”.
