Bank staff wear black badges to protest delay in promotion

Sangrur: After a three-day strike, employees of Malwa Gramin Bank (MGB) on Thursday wore black badges to protest against the delay in their promotions.“Promotions are done every year, but this year, our management is deliberately delaying the process. If promotions are done before March 31, all employees will complete their first year on the new rank in April 2019. But if the promotions are done in April, we will complete one year in March 2020,” alleged Pali Ram Bansal, general secretary Malwa Gramin Bank Officers Association (MGBOA).Standing at the main gate of the head office of MGB, which has 89 branches in different districts of Punjab, the employees announced to intensify their agitation if the authorities fail to take immediate action on their demand for promotion. When asked about allegations of deliberate delay in promotions, Rakesh Kumar Teji, Chairman of MGB, disconnected the call.
