Brampton Appoints Paul Morrison As Interim Chief Administrative Officer

At its February 11 meeting, City Council determined that as the organization takes its next steps towards supporting the community’s recovery from COVID-19 and laying the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable future, Council unanimously appointed Paul Morrison as the interim CAO. Plans are underway to fill this role on a permanent basis as soon as possible.

Paul has held leadership roles at the City as Director of Bylaw & Enforcement and Acting Legislative Services Commissioner, and was a former Superintendent with the Hamilton Police Service. Paul has been a steady hand in leading the Bylaw team during this challenging period of COVID-19.

Our Council thanks and acknowledges David Barrick as he moves on to new opportunities, for his contributions to our organization and community, including recent rankings as one of Canada’s Best Communities 2021 by Macleans, and one of Canada’s Best Employers 2021 by Forbes, in addition to his tireless efforts in leading the City’s pandemic response.

The City of Brampton looks forward to building on the important work of this Term of Council’s Priorities, while maintaining focus on what matters most to the community.

In a motion moved by myself and seconded by all of Council, we have unanimously selected Paul Morrison to shepherd the City of Brampton through COVID-19 and our economic recovery. His experience in Legislative Services, Bylaw & Enforcement, and policing make him uniquely qualified to be our Council’s interim Chief Administrative Officer. Paul has our full confidence,” Mayor Patrick Brown said.
