Brampton City Council will vote on LRT tomorrow
Brampton city council will vote on Tuesday to decide about the fate of controversial Light Rail Transit link. The council is divided on the issue and the matter is expected to be decided by one or two votes. Meanwhile, in a big relieve to Mayor Linda Jeffery’s camp, a Brampton judge on Monday denied injunction against a Brampton city councilor from voting on the issue. Justice Daley dismissed a motion for an interim and interlocutory injunction restraining Martin Madeiros from attending any council meeting. The motion was filed by a city resident who is opposing LRT’s proposed route through city’s downtown area. City resident Peter Bailey alleged that Martin Medeiros misled the residents by claiming to be a Brampton resident at the time of filling his nomination paper. Justice Daley found the motion ‘odd’ and dismissed it.
The vote is expected to be very close and Martin Medeiros’ vote is very crucial for the camp favoring LRT’s current plan that runs up to Brampton downtown
