Cabbies’ protest disrupts traffic in Toronto
Toronto/Dec 9, 2015
Toronto cab drivers’ protest against Uber service caused commuters headaches in the city. Taxi drivers were moving slowly from four different locations to City Hall and Queens park, blocking all major highways and roads. They are demanding enforcement of existing laws governing taxi business to Uber service also. According to Toronto media reports, a cab driver was dragged by a vehicle allegedly operated by UberX driver. The cabbie tried to confront the person inside the vehicle and grabbed the car’s door handle and hung on it. Cab drivers are upset with UberX service as the app based service is affecting traditional taxi business. Uber charges less rate than traditional cabs.
