JOB CREATION TAKES CENTRESTAGE IN ONTARIO ELECTION

Premier Kathleen Wynne recently claimed how investments by the Liberal government in postsecondary education and research, along with a willingness to partner with industry, has created a dynamic business climate that is creating highly-skilled, high-paying jobs in Ontario. The Liberals say that their government has spurred job creation in Eastern Ontario by increasing funding to postsecondary institutions, maintaining a competitive
corporate tax rate and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Liberals have also launched regional programs to help businesses expand and create jobs, like the Eastern Ontario Development Fund and the Rural Economic Development Program. The Liberal Budget from
last week proposed to build on this success with a new 10- year Jobs and Prosperity Fund to attract business investments, strengthen the economy and create jobs. Only the PC Party will create 120,000 new jobs by making Ontario the lowest tax jurisdiction in North America for job creation, claimed Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak in Durham . ”High taxes are driving jobs out of Ontario,” said Hudak during a visit to a Durham-area manufacturing company. ”High taxes mean more jobs they won’t create or keep. That’s why our Million Jobs Plan will replace corporate welfare with fair and lower taxes to create jobs and get Ontario working better.” ”My message to employers is clear,” the PC Leader said. “I am going to take Ontario out of the crony capitalism business.” Our Million Jobs Plan will create 120,000 jobs over the next eight years by reducing the tax burden on employers by 30 per cent – making them the lowest in North America. Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats was at Niagara Falls Riding to talk about the NDP plan for job creation with targeted tax credits. Horwath claimed that “Our Job Creation Tax Credit will help companies that are ready to invest in training local workers and equipment right here at home, New Democrats are ready to make smart investments and work with the real job creators.” Horwath said that Ontarians want a government that will make job creation a priority. New Democrats will reward companies that create jobs with a Job Creation Tax credit that will pay 10% of the salary of new employees to a maximum value of $5000 per job.”In Niagara Falls Riding and across the province people are telling New Democrats that they’re sick of watching their jobs get shipped away. New Democrats have the best plan to put people to work and help middle class families,” said Horwath. “It’s simple: if you put people to work you earn a tax break. It works and it will put people to work.” ”People in Niagara Falls Riding, and across Ontario, people are struggling with unemployment rates that are way too high. Families need a jobs plan that works. New Democrats will deliver results. It’s time for government that makes sense. “
