Mississauga – Channel Y, launched by the YMedia Group on Monday, October 19 received an overwhelming response from community members who sent several felicitation messages during the live marathon 2015 federal election transmission. The 24-hour, seven-days –a-week, this channel can be viewed for free for two months on Rogers 857 and on Bell Fibe at 828. The launch announcement was made in the Southasian PULSE Morning Time and during Prime Time. Therefore, as soon as the channel’s programming commenced, telephone bells started ringing. Community congratulated Group CEO Yudhvir Jaswal for moving from strength to strength and launching a channel that will capture the pulse of South Asians.
Thanking the community for their kind wishes, Yudhvir informed the main purpose of launching a 24-hour, seven-days –a-week channel was to offer a bouquet of programmes to community that would include news analysis, entertainment, health and community issues. The programmes will be held between 7pm to 8:30pm four times daily in Punjabi and Hindi and live shows daily for four hours. He said this new medium will give him more access to stay connected with the community 24-hours a day. The full fledged 24/7 programming for Y Channel will begin November, 1st 2015.
Besides Channel Y, the group publishes a weekly English newspaper – Midweek every Tuesday. The group also has maximum number of radio hours on 770AM with three daily shows from Monday to Friday – Southasian PULSE Morning Time from 6am to 7am; Southasian PULSE
Prime Time from 10:00am to 12 noon and Southasian PULSE Drive Time from 3:00pm to 4pm. The group CEO also produces other shows that are aired on Rogers basic cable 10 every Monday to Friday at 8pm. YMedia also has an app for downloading the latest news. The group has an interactive online portal www.SouthasianDaily.com that disseminates minute to minute news about issues related to the South Asian community.
