Charges Laid in Illegal Cannabis Dispensary Investigation
Region of Peel– Investigators from Vice, Narcotics and Street Level Organized Crime have charged two people in relation to an illegal cannabis dispensary operating in the City of Mississauga.
On October 25, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m. police executed a search warrant at an illegal cannabis dispensary located at 119 Dundas Street East, in the City of Mississauga. As a result of the search warrant, Jamal Gilcott, a 25 year-old man from Toronto, and Ventura Miller, a 32 year-old woman from Toronto, were charged with Unlawfully Sell Cannabis-Other Than Ontario Retailer, which is an offence under the Provincial Cannabis Act. They were both released on a Part 3 Summons under the Provincial Cannabis Act to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Mississauga at a future date.
Our partners working in the City of Mississauga’s Compliance & Licensing Enforcement Unit issued an interim closure of the location.
Peel Regional Police Service will continue to investigate and enforce the Cannabis Act. We want to remind members of our community that there are no legal cannabis dispensaries within our Region and that all purchases must be made through the Ontario Government website.
