City of Mississauga Receives Multiple Awards for Financial Reporting
The City of Mississauga has won its 20th consecutive Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for the 2016 Financial Report from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). With the win, the City continues to be the longest running municipality in Ontario to achieve this honour.
“For many years, we have excelled at presenting our financial reports in an informative and innovative way,” said Gary Kent, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Twenty consecutive awards speak to our high standard of strong comprehensive financial reporting and the commitment we uphold to being transparent and accountable. Thanks to a dedicated team of City staff for all their work.”
The City also received its very first Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for its 2016 Financial Report Highlights. The report provides a quick overview of the City’s financial position and highlights some of its achievements from 2016.
Kent added, “It is an honour to win this prestigious national award from the GFOA that recognizes municipalities for their highest standards for preparing local government popular reports.”
Both GFOA awards were presented at Council today.
