Congress gives privilege notice against Sitharaman in Lok Sabha
New Delhi, January 7
The Congress on Monday moved a notice of privilege in the Lok Sabha against Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accusing her of lying on the value of government contracts to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
Congress deputy whip in LS KC Venugopal gave the notice after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Sunday took to Twitter demanding a detailed explanation on the issue from Sitharaman.
Gandhi cited a news report and dared the minister to resign or explain the value of contracts given to HAL.
Sitharaman had during her reply in the Lok Sabha on Rafale purchase last Friday mentioned the contracts and their values.
But Gandhi relied on certain news reports that claimed that the HAL was still awaiting the contracts.
