Container truckers call off the strike

Mississauga/September 16, 2015-Container Trucking Association of Ontario has called off the strike after a compromise deal was reached with transport companies to revise rates for different services. After several rounds of talks, Container Trucking Association of Ontario and representatives of trucking companies reached a tentative deal on Tuesday that was endorsed by the members on Wednesday. Most of the companies have signed the final deal by Thursday morning and truckers belonging to those companies joined the work.

“It is a great victory for us and for the whole trucking industry in the region”, said Patrick Rhodin, president of the association.

The companies have agreed on $115 rate for zone 1, $135 for zone 2 and new driver rate for zone 1 is $48 and for zone 2 $55. New bobtail rate for owner operator would be $60 and for drivers $25. Highway rates have been also revised. Company representatives agreed to give 19% extra for highways while the association was asking for 22% rates.
