Dharamsot orders probe into harassment of SC student
Tohra: Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today ordered an inquiry into the alleged harassment case of SC girl student Veerpal Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Tohra, at the hands of the school staff.Dharamsot after interacting with the school staff, students and parents asked DC Kumar Amit to constitute an inquiry committee that would submit its report to him within two days. The DC constituted a four-member team headed by the Assistant Commissioner (Complaints), while the District Education Officer, District Welfare Officer and the Nabha Tehsildar would be other members of the committee. He said a member each of the social welfare and education departments would be member of the committee. The minister said as per his discussions with the people in the school he found nothing against the teachers and other staff of the school as alleged by the SC girl. However, to bring out the truth he has marked an inquiry into the case. He said if anyone found guilty would not be spared and added that it was unfortunate that the incident had been politicised.Hundreds of residents and parents of students of Tohra and Sahiawal villages had gathered on the school premises even before the visit of the minister and the district administrative officials. The victim girl and her parents were not present in the school as they had gone to Patiala to participate in the protest being organised in their favour. However, Balwinder Kaur, sister of Veerpal, alleged that the minister did not care to listen to their point of view.
