Energetic Forward Gagnon Called Up To IceCaps
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, announce today that gritty two-way forward Mathieu Gagnon has earned a callup to the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps.
The 6’2″, 216-pound Gagnon has provided an injection of toughness and strong forecheck pressure into each of the nine games he has played for the Beast this season. He has also proven to be an opportunistic scoring threat as he has scored two goals on only four shots on goal.
Gagnon, a 24-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec, is not a stranger to AHL action as he played seven games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers during the 2013-14 season, and 20 contests for the 2014-15 Springfield Falcons. He has recorded one goal, one point and 79 penalty minutes in his 27 total AHL matches.
He will join his IceCaps teammates in time for tonight’s home game against the Syracuse Crunch.
