Garbage limits waved for two weeks

Region of Peel is offering residents excess waste collection for two weeks, from Dec. 21 to Jan. During these two weeks period, residents may place unlimited quantities of acceptable garbage at the curb on their collection day and no garbage tags are required for this period. But at all Community Recycling Centres, regular drop off fees will still apply. New bi-weekly  and cart based waste collection system starts the first week of January. Under the new system garbage and organics will be collected one week and recycling will be picked up the next. Meanwhile, Christmas tree pick up is also being offered from Jan.11 to 22 and residents can put their trees on curbs on scheduled recycling day. Residents are advised to remove the tree stands , ornaments, plastic wrappings or bags from the trees . Artificial trees will also not be accepted as part of the Christmas tree collection.
