Indian Cousul General Dinesh Bhatia Garland Dr. Ambedkar’s Bust at York U of T 

Indian Consulate Dinesh Bhatia felt honoured to garland Dr. Ambedkar’s bust at York University of Toronto
In GTA,the celebration started with the garlanding the photograph of Dr Ambedkar by Consul General Mr. Dinesh
Bhatia who assumed the charge of Consul General of India,Toronto on 9 March 2016. Mr. Dinesh Bhatia who was
the Chief Guest,said “Dr Ambedkar was one of the greatest Indian Leader”.In his speech he vividly described the
roles played by Dr Ambedkar in the socio-economic reforms before and after the independence of India.
“Thank you for the invitation and I am happy to see higher level increasing at UN about about Dr.Ambedkar’s
teaching,”said Mr Jagiri Bains,a political leader.Speaking on the condition women’s rights Neelam Aheer said,”It is
hard to imagine what right’s women have achieved cause of Baba Ambedkar Sahib in present times”.”I am happy to
be here,I hope people do something not theoratically but in practice too,said Usha Heer.”Narda Razack felt good to
be at this occasion after missing the bust installation at York University earlier “In my life,I promote the teachings of
Dr Ambedkar and want to see more global and community engagement.”,She said. Mr Andrew said ,”I am blessed to
be here today the phillosphy of Dr. Ambedkar means a lot to me”.”I feel great to be here at this event”said,
Ananya Mukherjee-Reed Dean,Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies of the York University.
The event was attended by many people from different regions GTA.Many of local Dalit leaders had to attend
125th Birth Anniversary celebrations of B. R. Ambedkar at the United Nations at the same time in New York which
was attended by Syed Akbaruddin,India’s Permanent Representative to the UN,Charanjit Singh Atwal, the speaker of
Punjab Legislative Assembly and the keynote speaker Helen Clark,the head of the UN Development Programme
and former New Zealand Prime Minister.More than 550 people,diplomats,international officials,academics,civil
society activists,Indian residents from across the US and Canada filled a UN conference room for the celebrations.
A troupe of dancers and drummers performed at an entrance to the UN.The Begumpura Cultural Association of the
New York brought a decorated float with a bust of Ambedkar to the UN.
The event ended with the light snacks and everyone was talking about the coming big event on June 6 dinner in which
125th birth anniversary is going to be celebrated on  Saturday June 4, 2016 6:00 pm-11:00 pm Mississauga Palace
