Khalsa Alliance wins Dixie Gurdwara elections
In an overwhelming victory, Khalsa Alliance lead by Gurpreet Singh Bal has won all 11 positions of executive committee,Dixie Gurdwara, in the general elections held on Sunday. It was after 12 years that elections were held for the selection of executive committee. All 11 candidates nominated by Khalsa Alliance declared winner after a marathon counting process that continued till early Monday morning. The elections were held on a court order after a lengthy court case between two warring faction of the gurdwara committee.
Khalsa Alliance’s Gurpreet Singh Bal (752 votes), Amrik Singh Deol (776), Bhupinder Singh Bath (766), Dharmjit Singh Toor (626) , Gurwinder Singh Bhullar (725), Harpal Singh A (646), Harpal Singh B (684), Navjeet Singh (656), Parmjit Singh Bolina (736), Parmjit Singh Gill (689) and Ranjit Singh Dulay (748) were declared winners.
Panthic Slate nominated Ranjodh Singh Pandher, Sukhpal Singh Pandher, Swaran Singh Kairon, Narinderpal Singh Dhillon, Nachhatar Singh Chauhan, Manohar Singh, Harjeet Singh Sodhi, Harbhajan Singh Pandori and Gurmej Singh.
Two groups of the committee fought a court case since 2006. Both groups could not find a consensus to review the post 2003 membership and went to court. The court ordered re-election to select a new executive committee by Oct 4. A law firm nominated by the court was responsible to monitor the election process.
The Gurdwara general house has more than 2700 votes.
