Learn ‘swim to survive’ free in Brampton
Brampton has become the first city in the country to offer free ‘swim to survive’ swimming lessons for teens and adults. The program offers three one-hour lessons to teach skills that can help in the situation of accidental fall into water. The program is available this winter at city’s recreation centre pools. The program is for every resident of the city and designed to promote safety.
The plan comes in the wake of two drowning incidents at Professor’s Lake causing deaths. Organizers of the program feel that many newcomers in the city are not exposed to swimming and we need special program to introduce them to swimming.
