  1. Provincial finance ministers in Ottawa are meeting with federal finance minister Bill Morneau. Issues such as Canada Pension Plan might come under discussion.
  2. Canada’s Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan meet with his Iraqi and Kurdish counterparts just days after the Canadian CF-18 fighter jets repelled a massive IS attack. He held meetings with Kurdish Interior Minister Karim Sinjari and Kurdish Foreign Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir in Erbil in northern Iraq. Later talking to journalists defence minister said both sides talked about the security issues and Canada’s participation to have a more active role on ground for a better future of Iraq.
  3. Immigration Minister John McCallum met with Syrian refugees recently in Jordan and hopes Canada would be able to resettle 10,000 refugees by year end.
  4. Environment Canada has predicted white Christmas in GTA is impossible but has 90% possibility in Thunder Bay. Temperatures in GTA will remain mild and even reach in double digits this week.
  5. Eight people were rushed to the hospital after gas leak at Leslie Street and Finch Avenue area.
  6. A Las Vegas woman deliberately rammed her car on nearby pedestrians, killing one and injuring 26 others. Those injured also included five Canadians. Two were from Montreal. Though police has arrested the woman but it has not been revealed what was the motive behind such an act.
  7. A passenger was arrested for a hoax bomb scare on a Paris-bound Air France flight from Mauritius that caused an emergency landing in Kenya.
  8. Fifa has banned its president Sepp Platter and Uefa Michel Platini for eight years from all football-related activities. Both have said they will appeal against it.
  9. Miss Universe host Steve Harvey apologized after accidently crowning the wrong winner. Harvey announced Miss Columbia as winner but then realized he made a mistake as she in fact was the first runner up. It was Miss Philippines who had won the title.
  10. In Pakistan Dr Asim has been taken into police custody after the ATC rejected investigation report.
  11. At least six Nato troops died in a deadly Taliban attack on US-Afghan patrol mission in Afghanistan. Taking responsibility of the attack, Taliban spokesperson said 19 troops were killed and several wounded.
  12. Nineteen Indian students were stopped to board a San Francisco-bound flight because according to the US authorities the universities they had applied for were under scrutiny.
  13. Nirbhaya’s parents have demanded change in the Juvenile Justice Act. Meanwhile, SC has rejected DCW’s plea against juvenile convict’s release saying he cannot be detained any longer.
  14. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has filed defamation case against AAP. Arvind Kejriwal in reply has said he cannot be intimidated by court cases.
  15. Veteran journalist Kanwar Sandhu who went in jail to meet Balwant Singh Rajoana, named by former officer Gurmeet Pinky in a recent interview, was beaten up. Assistant jail superintendent Jagmel Singh was suspended after the incident.
  16. Some more details have been revealed in the Abohar case. Amit Doda, nephew of a SAD leader Shiv Lal Doda, allegedly called Bheem Tank to the farmhouse where he was murdered. Congress leader Sunil Jakhar has demanded inquiry by the CBI saying Punjab police is helping the accused.
  17. In the Bhola drug case the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached 85 properties, 11 firms and 34 fixed deposits valued for over IRs 6,000 crores that it says is owned by the accused.
  18. New Zealand won the second Test against Sri Lanka by five wickets.
  19. In Pakistan Super League (PSL) drafting, Peshawar Zalmi signed Shahid Afridi and Karachi Kings bagged Mohammad Amir.
  20. Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra have returned to India’s T20 squad touring Australia. Yuvraj was picked up after showing brilliant form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. According to selectors captain MS Dhoni is happy about Yuvraj’s return. After the announcement a happy Yuvraj gave credit of his comeback to his mother and his hard work. He will be seen playing alongside Harbhajan Singh. Meanwhile, Rayudu, Binny and Mishra could not make it to either ODI or T20 teams.
