  1. Statistics Canada has reported that Canada’s GDP went up by 0.1% in August. The country’s economy remained low in the first five months of the year. But it started showing signs of recovery in June when it edged up by 0.4% in June and 0.3% in July. Growth was seen in the retail trade sector, manufacturing, mining and oil and gas.
  2. Canada’s Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau has talked on phone with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two sides discussed to continue cordial relations.
  3. NDP leader Tom Mulcair is asking the current and former MPs to look into the causes of loss in the recently held elections and prepare for future discourse.
  4. NDP’s Andrea Horwath during a press conference today has said sale of Hydro One will not generate much funds for infrastructural development but just increase the woes of Ontarians.

  7. Police has determined the time of accident in the hit-and-run case of a cyclist Hardeep who died yesterday. He was knocked down by the vehicle between 5:50am to 5:55am in the morning. Hardeep was 30 years old and had two kids.
  8. Whereas Prime Minister Stephen Harper is preparing to leave 24 Sussex Drive along with his pets, the cats, Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau is getting ready to move in.
  9. In a missile attack in Syria, 40 people have died.
  10. Rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran are meeting in Vienna to discuss ways and means of stopping conflict in Syria with both sides vowing to cooperate on the issue.

  12. London-based resident Robin Raina will be building 6,000 houses for Delhi’s slum dwellers in India. The Robin Raina Foundation has already constructed 1,704 behind Red Fort in Delhi and will soon be shifting the destitute in them. He has allocated $20 million for this project. The project was initiated when the slum was bulldozed in preparation for the Commonwealth Games making thousands of people homeless.
  13. Signs of cracks are appearing between BJP and Shiv Sena as the later has threatened to pull out its support from the Maharashtra Government. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has said BJP has become arrogant and their use of power will not be tolerated.
  14. A United Nations report shows that by 2100 global temperature will rise by 2.7 degrees.
