Modi played on ‘backfoot’ in last five years: Rahul
Jaipur, January 9
Blowing bugle for the coming general elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi “always played on backfoot” when his turn came for batting in last five years.
“We want that the youth of this country play on frontfoot and hit sixers and not to go on backfoot as Modiji is doing for last five years by not fulfilling the promises he made,” Gandhi said.
“Crop loan waiver in three states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradhesh and Chhattisgarh is just a beginning and the Congress would formulate a long term sustainable strategy to bring another ‘green revolution’ and take India on pole position globally,” Gandhi announced while addressing a ‘Kisan Abhaar Rally’ here at Vidhydhar Nagar Stadium.
“PM with 56-inch chest could not come for a minute in Parliament to make his reply on Rafale aircraft deal corruption and he asked woman Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who spoke over two-and-half-hours but could not reply to the Congress’ posers,” Gandhi remarked.
“Janta ki adalat mein ek chowkidar ek mahila se kahaita hai ki meri raksha karo, parantoo vo mahila dhai ghante mein PM ki raksha nahin kar pai. Uske bhashan ki dhajiyan uda di Congress ne (In Parliament, PM has asked a woman to shield him, but she could not save him during her 2 hour and 30 minute speech. Congress has tore apart her speech),” Gandhi said, with people shouting the slogan: “Chowkidar chor hai”.
“Defence Minister could not make a reply on Congress’ sole question: why the old deal on Rafale was rejected and on what ground,” he said.
“Congress would continue its tirade against the Modi government demanding JPC probe in the Rafale deal,” Gandhi said, adding now every citizen knows why the CBI director was removed overnight and now when the Supreme Court has asked the government to reinstate CBI director.
Reminding Modi of “false promises” he has made to farmers over crop loan waiver, 2 crore jobs to youth and common man for achche din in last LS polls, Gandhi said, “Whenever there was for batting, Modiji got feared and went to ‘backfoot’.”
“I appeal all youths and farmers not to have any kind of fear in their mind. Congress would play on front foot and address their demands and grievances,” he said.
Congress party’s victory in three Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in December-2018 assembly polls has clearly given a ‘message to PM’ that “you have to waive crop loan of all farmers”. The Congress would not leave him, not let him to sleep, wake him up whole night, till Hindustan’s farmers crop loan is waived, Gandhi said.
The Congress governments, beginning with Rajasthan, would open food processing units, cold storage plants and mega food park in every district so that farmers do not go under distress due to lack of cold storage chain, he added.
“If Congress wins the 2019 LS polls, it would be victory of Janta and Karyakarta again in all other states,” Gandhi assured.
