More than 80 per cent Peel students passed literacy test
Eight out of ten Peel students passed provincial literacy test conducted by The Education Quality and Accountability Office. Region’s Grade 10 students took this test last spring. Ontario Secondary School Literary Test is designed to assess the level of reading and writing skills in school students.
More than 83 per cent of Peel School Board and 85 per cent of Dufferin-Peel board students who took the test for the first time passed. Across the province, the average success rate was about 82 per cent for last spring’s test.
Peel board officials said that the results are very encouraging and the data would be used in developing future strategies to boost student achievement.
