MPP Damerla Launches Holiday Food Drive at the Mississauga Muslim Community Center

MISSISSAUGA—MPP Dipika Damerla (Mississauga East-Cooksville) launched the Holiday Food Drive at the Mississauga Muslim Community Center (MMCC) on Wednesday, June 7th.  The center, popularly known as the Dixie Mosque, runs a food bank which serves everyone in the community irrespective of faith, ethnicity, or gender.

Food drives are held across the city’s mosques throughout the year. But this is the first time that a mosque has launched a Holiday Food Drive to ensure that no one goes hungry in the holiday season.

MPP Damerla appreciated the efforts of MMCC in their inclusive campaign to fight hunger in the city.

The MMCC Food Bank, started earlier this year, caters to large number of people including many newly arrived Syrian refugees.
