Mulcair’s plan on climate change: 50,000 homes and 15,000 apartment units to benefit from energy efficiency retrofits
Ottawa – NDP Leader Tom Mulcair has announced bold investments in sustainable development projects as a part of his commitment to tackling climate change, while creating good jobs for Canadians.
Highlights of the NDP plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through innovation and efficiency and to help communities cope with climate change, including:
- Investments in the renewable energy sector and home retrofits that will lower energy consumption and reduce household bills;
- Investments in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund to support local innovation;
- Strengthen Canada’s green procurement policy, support the installation of 150 electric car charging stations on federal properties, and the electrification of federal vehicle fleets.
This week, Mulcair is highlighting New Democrat commitments for change that includes the NDP’s Better Transit Plan, investments in local infrastructure, like community energy systems.
