New government restores long-form census
Moving fast on their campaign promises, the new Liberal government has announced to restore mandatory long-term census. Making announcement, Minister of Innovation, Science and Development, Navdeep Bains, said today that the 61-question long census form will be restored for 2016 census. Speaking with reporters in Ottawa, he said that the country needed access to high quality data.
In 2010, 61-question census form was scrapped by the previous government, arguing that questions of that form were intrusive.
