NRI Groom booked days ahead of wedding, MLA cries foul
Jalandhar: An NRI, who had come to Jalandhar from Canada to get married, has been booked under various charges for hampering government work a few days before his wedding. Three others of his family, who too have come from Canada, have also been booked.
Talking to the press here today, SAD MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala said Talwan village resident Taranjit Singh Raja came to India on December 25 and a case for causing trouble in official work was lodged against him on December 28. Wadala alleged the youth was unnecessarily being “framed” and the action amounted to “high-handedness”. They said while the wedding of the youth was slated for January 3, the shagun of the youth was on New Year – January 1.
Informing about the incident, the MLA said Satinder Kumar, son of Kashmiri Lal, a resident of Talwan, had made a concrete pedestal in front of his house. He said sarpanch Balbir Singh himself began breaking the pedestal. When he was stopped from doing the same, aresolution was passed in the panchayat to initiate action against Satinder Kumar as well as his Canada-based neighbours with the BDPO, stating that the said persons had hindered government work. The BDPO also forwarded the resolution for police action. The FIRs under Sections 353, 185 and 506 of the IPC have been registered at the Bilga police station.
