Peel board sending guide on new sex-ed curriculum
Mississauga, 2015-Peel School Board is sending a detailed guide to parents on Ontario’s new proposed sex-ed curriculum to answer many questions and dispel ‘misconceptions’ about the curriculum. The new curriculum will be taught after the March break in Peel schools.
The guide is named as ‘Working together to keep our students safe and health’, and would be sent with report cards. High School students will get the guide next week and elementary students will get it sometime after Nov.9. The board is also launching a social media campaign to educate the parents about the content of the curriculum. The guide is provided in 11 languages.
According to the board officials, parents will have the option to withdraw their kids from the lessons on sex-ed and exemption requests can be submitted to the board as of January 2016.
