Peel Police Arrest Female for Dangerous Operation, Kill an Animal and Assault with a Weapon
Mississauga– Officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged a female with Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle leading to the death of an animal.
On Saturday November 12, 2016, the accused was operating her vehicle on Duford Drive, in the city of Mississauga, at which time the victim was walking his dog, attempting to cross the street. The accused waved at the victim signalling to him to cross and as he began to do so, the accused accelerated and veered towards the victim and his dog. The victim was able to escape from the path of the vehicle, however, the accused intentionally struck the victims’ dog. The victim did not sustain any injuries. The dog succumbed to its injuries at the scene.
Police arrested Maryam ATIA , a 38 year-old female from Mississauga on Monday November 14, 2016. ATIA as has been charged with Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Killing or Injuring Animals and Assault with a Weapon.
Maryam ATIA was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Brampton on Tuesday November 15, 2016. The accused was then remanded in custody until Thursday, November 17, 2016.
