Peel Police Charge Nine in Attempted Murder Case
Brampton – Members of the 21 Division Criminal Violent Crime Reduction Team have arrested and charged nine individuals stemming from an attempted murder incident in 2015. On Saturday, September 26, 2015, the victim, Abdallah BUTALE, a 52 year old male at the time of the incident, was viciously attacked inside his residence by a group of individuals. These individuals forced their way into the victim’s home armed with golf clubs, hammers and knives. This group of individuals savagely beat the victim and Mr. BUTALE was air lifted to a Toronto area trauma centre where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.
The 21 Division Criminal Violent Crime Reduction Team assumed control of the investigation. Further assistance was provided to the team by Forensic Identification Services and the Intelligence Bureau. This extensive investigation has culminated in the arrest and charge of the following individuals:
Bryan POOBALASINGHAM, a 24 year old male from Brampton.
Brandon POOBALASINGHAM, a 21 year old male from Brampton.
Nivethan ALAKESWARAN, a 19 year old male from Brampton.
Vitaliy RICKNAUTH, 21 year old male from Brampton.
In addition, five young offenders have also been arrested and charged in connection with this case. They cannot be named due to the parameters of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
All nine individuals were charged with Attempt Murder and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, on Wednesday, September 29, 2016.
