Ram Tirath temple in Amritsar by September: Badal

Chandigarh, April 26 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday directed the authorities to complete construction of the Sri Ram Tirath temple-cum-panorama complex in Amritsar town by September 15.

Presiding over a meeting also to review progress on starting the Baba Jeevan Singh Memorial at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the chief minister underscored the need for expediting the work of these projects for their timely completion.

The Sri Ram Tirath Temple is coming up at a cost of Rs.180 crore at the place where sage Valmiki had authored the great epic Ramayana.

Badal also gave approval for the installation of an eight-feet-tall gold-plated idol of Valmiki on the temple premises.

The Baba Jeevan Singh Memorial, whose foundation stone will be laid in June by Badal, would come up at a cost of Rs.25 crore.
