RBC and YMCA Brampton Multicultural day, on August 14th, 2019!

BRAMPTON, ON– Brampton Multicultural Community Centre in partnership with RBC and YMCA, will celebrate Newcomers to Canada with a festive afternoon of programming for all ages on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 at YMCA located at 20 Union Street, Brampton. The second Annual Brampton Newcomer Day will bring together more than 15 local exhibitors who will be offering their services in order to help Newcomers feel more settled in their new community.
“We take pride in building a vibrant and cohesive community. The Brampton Newcomer Day is a great opportunity to connect with our new residents and welcome them to our city,” said Dima Amad, Director of Programs, BMC. “Our aim for the day is to facilitate networking opportunities and promote the wealth of services that exist to help newcomers settle and integrate into our great City.”
“As a charity that helps people of all ages and stages of life improve their well-being and find a sense of belonging, we’re thrilled to host this year’s Brampton Newcomer Day,” says Ivan Rabinovich, General Manager of the Brampton YMCA. “This is a great opportunity to connect with others and learn about resources including the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s pre-settlement, language assessment and employment services, newcomer youth leadership development program and volunteer opportunities.”
“Brampton Newcomer Day is an incredibly important day for our community, one that offers the opportunity for us all to embrace our newest residents and connect them with all the right services they may need,” said Zanita DiSalle, Regional Vice President, RBC. “It is a privilege for us to have a role to play in helping Newcomers settle here and navigating our banking system, whether it be their first bank account, credit card or home purchase in Canada.”
Brampton Newcomer Day will offer a variety of programming, from accessing Canadian health care to getting advice on resume-building and job-hunting, to speaking to experts about banking in Canada to fun activities for kids. Some of the participating Community Partners include:

- Brampton Community Health Centre
- Access Employment
- William Osler Hospital
- Brampton Entrepreneur Centre
The event will run from 11 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, August 14th at YMCA Brampton. It is free, open to all and will have activities for all ages.
