Mississauga: India Tourism Toronto, UNIGLOBE The Premiere Travel Group and Holiday Merchants(Delhi) co-hosted a vibrant reception for the travel trade at Red Rose Convention Centre recently. Despite the inclement weather, the event was well-attended and enjoyed by all.
Raj Dhingra, Business Development Manager of UNIGLOBE The Premiere Travel Group opened the evening by introducing Ivan D’Lima, Master of Ceremonies and warmly welcomed everyone to the Agent Awards and Appreciation Evening.
UNIGLOBE The Premiere Travel Group proudly represents two prominent Indian companies in Canada – SOTC Tours (KUONI India) and Holiday Merchants. Both these divisions are managed by Mr. Raj Dhingra, Business Development Manager.
The Chief Guest for the evening, Amabassador Dinesh Bhatia. Consul General of India was welcomed by Nilufer Mama and Cyrus Rustamji of UNIGLOBE The Premiere Travel Group. In his address Ambassador Bhatia expressed pleasure at seeing the travel trade in large numbers and thanked them for their efforts to promote India in Canada. He said, “India has it all! It is a place that has different cultures, languages and natural beauty”. He mentioned an interesting acronym CDEF: C for Culture and Civilization, D for Diaspora, E for Economy and F for Food and Film which truly applies to Incredible India!
Roman Pereira, Tourist Information Officer, India Tourism Toronto spoke passionately about India being the land of startling contrast and diversity which is a mecca for tourism. India’s burgeoning economy, pluralistic, multilingual, multiethnic platform has attracted millions of tourists around the world. He stated that according to Mark Twain the Indus Valley Civilization was older than history and legend itself, and the largest peaceful human congregation on this earth was at Kumbha Mela, (Allahabad) in 2013 where more than 120 million pilgrims came to pay their respects.
Vikas Khanduri, CEO of Holiday Merchants, a leading travel company based in New Delhi specially flew in to attend this Event and recognize Travel partners who supported Holiday Merchants in 2017. Vikas shared insights about his group of companies, and in particular, their plans for expansion in Canada. They presently have five international offices and eleven associate sales offices in India. In his address Vikas spoke about their company’s robust back office operations for worldwide destinations with excellent global tie-ups. As a mark of honor, he presented the first copy of their new India brochure to the Consul General and invited agents to entrust their business to Holiday Merchants.
To add to the enjoyment of the evening, there were three lively fusion dances by Neeti Dream-n-Dance Group. The colorful high energy performances by young talented dancers were enjoyed by all.
The ever popular SOTC Tour programs were briefly discussed by Nilufer Mama, Executive VP of UNIGLOBE The Premiere Travel Group with special emphasis to the new destinations that were unveiled for 2018. SOTC has been a partner company for the past 17 years, and the travel trade were thanked for the unflagging support of this business over the years.
Travel Agencies recognized for their Sales performance for Holiday Merchants business were: Bains Travel, ETN Travels, Khalsa Travel, Mann Travel & Tours, Nationwide Travel Limited, Quick Travels, Riya Travel & Tours Inc., Royal Scenic Travel, Sky Bird Tours and Travels, Sky Route Travel and Supreme Travel.
SOTC Appreciation Awards were given to Mann Travel & Tours, Quick Travel and Riya Travel & Tours Inc.
Other participants who attended the Event included, Jamie McNair, Joel Kopstick and Monica Johnstone from UNIGLOBE, Girish Kardam from Air Canada and Atul Joshi and Titus Raje of Jet Airways.
