Seeking pay hike, anganwari workers hold protests

Muktsar/jalandhar, July 10

The Anganwadi workers on Wednesday gheraoed the District Administrative Complex (DAC) in Muktsar and demanded increase in their honorarium.

Later, they handed over a memorandum to the district administration and dispersed. Amritpal Kaur, president, Anganwadi Employees Union (CITU), Muktsar, said, “We are raising the genuine demand of increase in our honorarium, but the state government is not paying any attention. We will intensify the stir in coming days.”

Asimilar protest was held in Jalandhar. Members of the anganwari workers’ union led the protest march. They alleged that the Congress government had promised to hike their honorarium, but failed to do so. They said they would intesify the protest soon.
