SMARTSAVER INTRODUCES TWO MONTHS OF WIN-WIN PROMOTIONS FOR CANADA LEARNING BOND ENROLLMENT
Offers include weekly $1,000 draws for families and
media partnership opportunities exclusive to ethno-specific media
Ontario – SmartSAVER is announcing the launch of a national contest that will run from November 1 to December 31, 2015 in conjunction with Financial Literacy Month and Education Savings Week. Join our ethno-specific web-based media briefing, to learn how you can raise awareness about this exciting opportunity in your community.
The SmartSAVER contest aims to help families save for their children’s post-secondary education by increasing awareness of the Canada Learning Bond, which is a contribution of up to $2,000 by the Government of Canada into a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). Any child born in 2004 or later and whose family receives the National Child Benefit Supplement (has a net family income of $ $44,701 or less) is eligible to receive the Canada Learning Bond.
“The Canada Learning Bond is a unique opportunity for families to start saving for their child’s post-secondary education – even with zero contribution to their RESP,” states May Wong, Executive Director of SmartSAVER. “Unfortunately, over 1.5 million kids who are eligible to receive up to $2,000 don’t have it because their families don’t know about it or don’t know how to get it.”
To participate in SmartSAVER’s contest, families will be required to use SmartSAVER’s multilingual online application to open a no-cost RESP with the participating bank or credit union of their choice, and apply for their child’s free Canada Learning Bond. Applicants will be automatically entered to win one of nine $1,000 weekly cash prizes for the duration of the contest, November 1st through December 31st. Full contest rules and regulations can be found at SmartSAVER.org.
In support of the contest, SmartSAVER is partnering with ethno-specific media to increase awareness among diverse communities across the country about the Canada Learning Bond and SmartSAVER.org’s easy online application. By working together, we can make sure that families across diverse communities learn about and can participate in these valuable opportunities.
