  1. Michael ford, nephew of the late Rob Ford is running elections from the vacant seat of Ward 2 by-election (Etobicoke North). However, other candidates are saying it is not going to be so easy for him.
  2. People remain divided on Scarborough Subway. A Forum Research shows that 49% are in its favour while 35% are against it. However, in Scarborough the issue is very popular and about 63% have said the area requires it.
  3. In an accident that took place on Highway 407 yesterday at 3pm in Brampton, at least three people died. The crash happened when a 1948 Chevrolet faced tire issue and lost control and as a result a coach hit it. The car caught fire. Ontario Provincial Police is investigating. The roads remained closed from Mavis to Mississauga Road between 3pm to 8pm.
  4. As Pokemon craze is increasing in Mississauga, authorities are monitoring the 11pm park ban as people while playing the game get so engrossed that they enter the parks late.
  5. In Brampton suspected drunk driver crashed into the Peel Police cruiser this morning at the Brampton and Vaughan border. The incident took place at 8:45am near Highway 50 and Cottrelle Boulevard in Brampton when Peel police was called about a suspected drunk driver in a white Honda Civic.
  6. At least two people died and 14 got injured when a shooter opened fire at the Fort Myers, Florida nightclub where a teen party was going on. Just some time back a shooting had taken place at a night club in Florida in which several people died and were injured.
  7. A new poll shows that Donald Trump has the support of 44% people while Hilary Clinton has 39% support. The elections will be held in USA in November. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia convention, Democratic party chief, Debbie Wasserman had to resign after internal emails leaked. Bernie Sanders’ supporters are against standing behind Clinton but Sanders insists Hillary be supported to defeat Trump as his victory will be damaging for USA.
  8. Donald Trump has said Debbie Wasserman was cheating and has resigned and so should Hillary.
  9. In Baghdad, at least 14 people have died and 60 got injured in a suicide bombing attack.
  10. Turkey has detained 42 journalists with the world condemning the move as it is against freedom of speech. Since the last failed military coup, Turkey has detained 60,000 people.
  11. Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition today in NAB saying detailed investigation should be held against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, but NAB is not fulfilling its responsibility. A PTI spokesperson also said that TOR have still not been set therefore the party will hold protest rallies outside NAB headquarters in Islamabad.
  12. Pakistan People’s Party has decided to let go Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah as he is getting old and so cannot face challenges of the province and so a new face is required.
  13. Talking to a press conference this morning former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu has said he was told to stay away from Punjab, adding, why should he and on whose wishes? Sidhu said people of Amritsar have given him so much affection and respect so he cannot betray their trust. When asked by media if he was joining AAP as its chief ministerial candidate, Sidhu replied: “That’s not the issue. You will see Sidhu wherever Punjab’s interests lie.” He informed he was in Pakistan doing cricket commentary when Atal Bihari Vajpayee called him to join the party. On return to India, within 14 days he defeated a person has been winning for the last six times. Later his wife was also roped in.
  14. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has formed a nine-member panel to probe AAP lawmaker Bhagwant Mann’s videos on Parliament that compromise allegedly the House’s sanctity. She has also advised Mann not to attend the House’s sitting till the issue is resolved. Though Mann sent a written apology to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan but still action has been taken against him.
  15. Police has arrested AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan on the charges of threatening a woman. Another AAP legislator Naresh Yadav has been sent in police custody for two days in connection with a Quran sacrilege incident last month. Talking on these arrests, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP government is creating problems in Delhi and now it is war between Kauravas and Pandavas.
  16. Former Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar has said he will soon disclose all the foreign accounts of the Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh and his family members.
  17. On the issue of SYL, Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh said he and all Punjab Congress MLAs will resign if Supreme Court gives decision against Punjab.
  18. Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal has alleged that AAP has close ties with separatist parties and has no regard for Punjab. He also alleged that the party must take action against its MP Bhagwant Mann who showed parliament videos which was a major lapse on his part.
  19. In India police has arrested two men for the alleged gang rape of a 25-year-old Israeli national. The matter is being investigated.
  20. Indian government has asked the Indian High Commission officials in Islamabad to send their children outside Pakistan for education.
  21. Peta India has said that Salman Khan’s acquittal in the two 1998 chinkara poaching cases is a massive shock and disappointment for animal lovers across the country.
  22. India defeated West Indies by an innings and 92 runs in the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium on Sunday. This was India’s biggest victory out of the country. The main highlight of this Test was Ashwin’s 100 runs and best bowling performance while Virat Kohli made a double century.
  23. In the second Test being played at Old Trafford, England made 589/8 and declared the innings and 173/ 1 declared. Pakistan in reply made 198/10 in the first innings and 181/7 now. Pakistan still requires 565 runs to win the Test. Pakistan leads the series 1-0.
