1. American President Barack Obama offered red carpet welcome to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, signaling end of frosty relations between the two countries and sharing their goals on climate change and trade. The two leaders gathered along with other dignitaries in the White House lawn. A meeting was held in the Oval Office later followed by a media conference and a joint statement is expected soon. Trudeau’s US visit will conclude at the State Dinner tonight – the first Canadian leader given this honour since 1997.
2. Ontario government has announced it is banning smoking and vaping of medical marijuana in public places. This is a shift from its earlier policy.
3. Toronto Mayor John Tory has written a letter to the federal government to take note of complaints filed by residents that jets noise is interfering with their quality of life.

5. Pakistan team gets green signal to travel to India for the World T20 but some security concerns still remain.
6. An Inquiry Committee, headed by PCB official Shakeel Sheikh was set up by Pakistan to look into the causes of Pakistan’s bad performance during Asia Cup. Former cricketer Wasim Akram questioned Sheikh’s appointment and setting up the committee. Replying to him, Sheikh said Wasim is king of betting and has threatened to open files, submitted by Justice Malik Qayyum, on his role in match-fixing.
