  1. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has completed Beijing tour. He said his discussion with the Chinese leaders focused on trade and investment. He also talked about human rights with them. Trudeau mentioned his meeting with Xi Jinping, president of China and Li Keqiang, Premier saying he told them diversity makes China stronger and the country will benefit from free expression and good governance. The two countries also signed deals worth $1.2 billion. He is accompanied by Trade Minister Chrystia Freeland, Finance Minister Bill Morneau and Minister of Foreign Affairs Stéphane Dion. After USA, China is the biggest exporter for Canada and about 4.5% population in Canada is of Chinese origin. Meanwhile, Canada will open seven new visa offices in China to promote investment and tourism. Trudeau also visited Great Wall of China.
  2. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a speech last night once again reiterated if chosen president he will build a wall on the southern border with Mexico. He travelled in the morning to Mexico before speaking in Phoenix, later at night. He said he has made it clear that Mexico will pay for that construction. Meanwhile, the Mexican President Pena Nietao has clarified USA will bear the cost of such a wall. Trump also said within an hour of becoming president he will hunt down all illegal immigrants and deport them and only work for the American citizens. He called them illegal aliens and clarified those who desire to come to USA must do so legally.
  3. US state department spokesperson John Kirby has said that Pakistan-based terrorist groups are a threat to the South Asian Region. He has said: “We all recognise the continued security threat that is posed by the Haqqani network and by other terrorist groups that operate inside Pakistan and along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.” He mentioned that USA, India and Afghanistan are holding a trilateral meeting next month to plan for Afghanistan’s future. US Secretary of State John while Kerry in Delhi said Pakistan has been told it must crackdown on the Haqqani group. Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter has said USA has stopped funding of $300 million to Pakistan.
  4. DG ISPR Asim Bajwa has said the war against terror cost Pakistan $107 billion. He said the military has already cleared North Waziristan, Shawal, Khyber Agency. About 900 terrorists killed during Khyber I and Khyber II and about 66pc locals have returned to tribal areas. Pakistan has ‘foiled’ ISIS designs and 309 people have been arrested. In this fight 536 soldiers killed, 2,272 injured while 3,500 terrorists have been killed.
  5. Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha has said Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would have been part of India had the country gone for a military solution rather political solution. He said the Indian government did not fully utilise India’s air power till the 1971 Indo-Pak war. He also said India’s foreign policy was enshrined in the UN charter, the Non-Alignment Movement’s charter and Panchseel doctrine.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi told the Supreme Court that he stands by his remarks that some members of RSS assassinated Mahatma Gandhi and said he was ready to face trial for alleged criminal defamation filed by the RSS against him. Meanwhile, allowing Gandhi to withdraw his petition, the bench of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman declined his plea for exemption from appearing before the trial court in defamation case.
  7. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said he prefers to die than compromise on AAP’s core values. He said he received a video message, reviewed it and removed Sandeep Kumar immediately. The nine minute CD has explicit images and video of Kumar. Kejriwal said even in future even if his own son or Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is found involved in any wrongdoing, he will be removed from the party. He said Sandeep Kumar betrayed the party and the AAP movement and the trust of people across the country. He criticized BJP saying why it has not taken any action against allegations of wrongdoings against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel. He hit Congress also saying why the party has not taken any action against its Punjab Chief Amarinder Singh when his family was found to have Swiss bank accounts.
  8. Sandeep Kumar, AAP’s Women and Child Welfare Minister commenting on the sex-tape CD has said he is innocent and the contents of the CD must be verified. He said he has a lot of weight but the man in the CD looks thinner so he is someone else. He also showed wiliness to cooperate in the inquiry saying authenticity of that tape must be verified. Some footage of the 36-year-old of this popular cabinet minister was also shown on Channel Y.
  9. AAP donations graph is constantly falling in Punjab and several questions are being asked on the causes. The main reasons are the recent infighting and allegations on the party.
  10. Congress leader Ravneet Singh has said the party has no place for rejected people such as Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sucha Singh Chhotepur as Congress has several good leaders.
  11. AAP is holding a meeting in Delhi today to solve Punjab crisis. The meeting that will be headed by Kejriwal and members of the political affairs committee. The committee will also discuss the issue of Chhotepur and other current matters.
  12. Harmail Tohra, son-in-law of Gurcharan Singh Tohra has clarified that he has no role in the attack of Dr Dharamvir Gandhi during an election campaign in Patiala election attack supported. Earlier Kanwal Sandhu had said Tohra’s entry in AAP was not correct. Talking on the issue Tohra said if Sandhu had any issues with him he should have talked to him to resolve the issues before going to media. Tohra also said he respects Dr Gandhi as he treated his father. However, he agreed that the said man who attacked Dr Gandhi was received by him while he came out of the central jail in Patiala but it was a wrong gesture and he is ready to apologise for it.
  13. Congress leader Capt Amrinder Singh has said Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has destroyed the Akali legacy. He alleged had Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had maintained good standard in the party, Tohra would never have left Akali Dal.
  14. Navjot Kaur Sidhu has said AAP’s trouble is due to the dominance of Delhi leaders. If they allow Punjab unit to work freely, these problems will go away. However, she still has not commented on which political party her husband will join.
