Patrick Brown talked to Y Media yesterday after filing papers for Peel Region Chair
He had promised he will visit Channel Y studios after filing his papers
He was asked who was behind his removal as Kathleen Wynne in an interview had said she not behind it
Brown confessed it was an insider’s job and knows who in PC party wanted him out
He said he commanded leadership but was an outsider and came from federal politics to provincial
He informed few were not happy with this move; some of his promises, good work also make some upset
Brown said he will give names and details of his political assassination in book in new book
He said that same group is trying to stop him to be Peel Region Chair and will bring a new candidate against him
Brown resigned on Jan 25 amid CTV’s allegations of sexual assault by two women
They interacted with them a few years back and denied any sexual encounters
Brown has sued CTV $8m over sexual impropriety story but TV channel owns its news
Brown said he will also share details of other candidates soon also
In municipal elections, mayor, city councillors and school board
This is the first time elections for Peel Region Chair is also being held
Brown said several including South Asians are also supporting him
He said he is proud that people he personally chose are on cabinet position today
He informed that he went to Caroline Mulroney’s house and convinced her to take part in politics
Today she has been chosen as Attorney-General and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs
He mentioned others such as Peter Bethlenfalvy and Rod Phillips, and was happy to see them on good position
When asked why he chose Peel region specially Brampton and Mississauga
Brown said he practiced as lawyer in Brampton as did his father
His fiancé resides in Mississauga, he also lives here now and is getting married with her in Oct this year
His fiancé also accompanied him to Channel Y studios
He has the support of Tiger Ali Singh who is a wrestler, philanthropist and helps many people
Brown also has support of businessman Ramesh Chotai, who was president of Canada-India foundation
Asha Luthra, former President of Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce also supports him
Brown mentioned he has connections in world and Peel region can benefit from it
He will bring investment here and take care of transit, traffic gridlock, healthcare, create more jobs
Services such as police and garbage disposal are under Peel Chair
Yesterday, Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey visited Channel Y studios and talked on key issues including youth violence
She was told about death of Paviter Singh Bassi in which 5 arrested and 6 families got affected due to this tragedy
She was also informed of videos of youth violence and international students
Jeffrey told she met with Peel Police chief and council is making strict laws to stop such acts in future
She was asked about the integration of immigrants in Brampton and international students
Jeffrey said council is taking major steps but showed on commitment on reducing property taxes
Jeffrey said her focus is on bringing university to Brampton which is a dream
When asked the provincial election were fought on issue of healthcare, Jeffrey said a 3rd hospital is coming to city
She said city council is looking for site for 3rd hospital
She was asked if it is being done keeping in view upcoming elections
The 1st hospital requires more docs and 2nd more resources so why a 3rd hospital
She denied it saying the city requires more jobs and instead of more houses, industrial areas are required
Jeffrey said she is working on bringing investment and if elected again, will actively work on healthcare, jobs
A woman attacked bus passengers with sharp knife on Queen Street and McVean Drive between 9pm-10:30pm
Police has arrested her and charged her with attempt to murder
Around 3 to 4 people got injured in attack and are being treated in hospital
One of the injured is in trauma centre but his condition is stable
In Mississauga a truck hit a cyclist who sustained serious injured and is in serious condition
Funds being raised for Chantelle Almedia, 26, who died in shooting in Woodbridge along with a man
It was a targeted shooting but she died as she was sitting in the car with that man
Out of the target of $25,000 to be raised for her funeral, $20,000 have been collected
