  5. Trump in Saudi Arabia has said terrorists do not worship God. They worship death. Trump said he was “not here to lecture” the Muslim world but he asked Muslim-majority countries to do more to eradicate terrorist groups that claim the mantle of Islam. Trump said: “Drive them out. Drive out the terrorists. Drive out the extremists. Drive them out of your places of worship. Drive them out of your communities. Drive them out of your holy land and drive them out of this earth.”
  6. A Chinese paper has said killing of CIA spies in 2010 and 2012 is a ‘sweeping victory for China’. The news was first reported in New York Times.
  7. Trump also met with the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and said he is pleased to meet him. The ruling PML (N) has appreciated the gesture but opposition is upset with Sharif. PTI chief Imran Khan has criticised Sharif saying he did not raise any issues with Trump who mentioned India as being victim  to terrorism. Khan said even after losing 70,000 soldiers, Pakistan’s sacrifices were not mentioned. He said Sharif should also have spoken about Iran and that Muslim world should not stay divided. he said it was a great opportunity but lost by Sharif.
  8. Trump has signed $400 billion trade between KSA and USA that will also create thousands of jobs. Several arms deal with KSA were also struck.
  9. Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif  has said USA’s arms deals and investment in KSA will harm Iran’s interests. Trump in his speech to Arab heads of state in Riyadh, continuously attacked Iran for funding arms and training militias to spread destruction and chaos in the region. Zarif  said the people in Iran had “endured hardship and despair under their leaders  reckless pursuit of conflict and terror.”
  10. Trump has reached Israel now to mend ties that deteriorated during the Obama administration. Though he is there to initiate peace talks in Middle east but Trump is not very much hopeful. He will also discuss Iran’s threat to Israel, talk about furthering trade and strengthening ties.
  11. US, Japan, South Korea have called ‘urgent’ Security Council meeting as North Korea has started mass production of medium range missiles saying they can mark different countries.
  12. Supreme court in Pakistan has told the joint investigation team probing Panama Papers case will not be given any extra time. Full report must be produced within 60 days. the directive was given by Justice Aizazul Hassan.
  13. In a London-bound PIA plane from Islamabad, 20kg heroine was recovered. Though no arrests have been made, inquiry is on.
  14. In Tasmania, Australia an Indian cab driver Pardeep Singh was attacked by some people who also chanted racial slurs. Singh is in hospital.

  17. Arun Jaitley filed today a second defamation suit against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking IRs10 crore in damages for being called names during a hearing in a libel case last week. Jaitley first accused the Aam Aadmi Party chief and five of his party colleagues of defaming him in the Delhi and District Cricket Association deal in 2015. Recently during cross-examining said Ram Jethmalani used derogatory remarks against him. Jethmalani had told the court that he used the word against Jaitley during the proceedings on instructions of Kejriwal. But Anupam Srivastav, advocate on record for Kejriwal said no such instruction was given by Kejriwal.
  18. The body of an Indian mountaineer, Ravi Kumar, 27, found on Mount Everest in the death zone area.
  19. Major Leetul Gogoi, Army officer who drove the jeep with a man tied at the front during protests in J&K last month; has been awarded a Medal of Commendation by Army Chief Bipin Rawat. Rawat has awarded the medal to Major Gogoi for his ‘sustained efforts’ on counter-insurgency operations. Last month a video that went viral showed a man was tied to an army jeep and was used as a human shield.
  20. Veteran actor and BJP MP Paresh Rawal, came under scanner for his comments: “Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep, tie Arundhati Roy!” Roy has been a strong critic of the BJP government.

  29. Direct flights to the Sikh pilgrimage town of Nanded in Maharashtra will take off from Mohali and Amritsar airports in July. Shiromani Akali Dal Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra announced this after meeting Union aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju in Delhi on Friday.
