Statistics Canada Reports Increase in Jobs – 54,000 Jobs Created in July

BRAMPTON – Statistics Canada released their Labour Force Survey for July 2018 and reported an increase in employment by 54,000 resulting in a 0.2 percentage point drop in the unemployment rate nationally.

“Our government was elected on a platform of investing in Canadians to grow our economy” said MP Sidhu. “Our government will continue to invest in Canadians as we continue to grow the middle class and support people working hard to join it.” According to Statistics Canada, in the 12 months leading to July, employment grew by 246,000 and largely the result of growth in full-time work. In Ontario, the
unemployment rate sits at 5.4% matching a record low since July 2000.

The Federal government is committed to continuing to make smart investments in Canada’s greatest resource – its people – to create the kind of growth that works for everyone.
