TRS, Cong in friendly fight: PM
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused the BJP’s arch political rival parties, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress, of forcing dynastic rule and paying heed to only the development of their families at the cost of people of the state.
Modi said: “Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had promised to transform Nizamabad (where he was addressing a rally) into London. He should first go and live there for a few years to see what London looks like.”
The PM said the TRS and Congress were playing a friendly match (noora kushti) to mislead people. “If you fall into the trap of either of them, you will be playing with your future and that of your children. KCR was trained by Congress in his formative years in politics and just as the Congress did nothing for the state in 60 years of rule here, the TRS has done nothing since the formation of the state in 2014, except looking after KCR and his family,” Modi said.
KCR hit back at Modi by calling him a “liar”. Switching from Telugu to Hindi, the caretaker CM said: “You (Modi) have to clarify the lies you have told people by saying there is no development. You are the PM and you cannot mislead them. There is no power shortage in Telangana; you have resorted to falsehood only for votes. I challenge you to come for a public debate if you have the guts to face people.”
Modi addressed two rallies — one at Nizamabad and another at Mahbubnagar. At both the venues, the PM lashed out at the TRS and Congress, calling them dynastic and feudal with vested interest. “If you want a safe future, you have no choice but to vote for the BJP,” he said.
The PM’s speech drew criticism from the Opposition that accused him of playing “divisional politics”. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the BJP had no presence in the state and was only trying to polarise voters.
KCR said: “Modi is an idiotic PM. He is stooping too low for votes. I am not afraid of him like Chandrababu Naidu. Speak responsibly as a PM.”
