Trudeau offers new leadership to reclaim Canada’s place in the world

Toronto – A Liberal government will offer real leadership on climate change, humanitarian assistance, trade, and make Canada a strong partner and leader in the world once again, said the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, today.
Trudeau said: “Canada is a country with so much to offer and it’s time to reclaim our place in the world. A Liberal government will make Canada a constructive and committed player on the international stage, so we can do things like fight climate change and expand economic opportunities for the middle class.”
During tonight’s Munk Debate on Canada’s Foreign Policy, Canadians will hear about the Liberal plan to bring renewed leadership to Canadian foreign policy. Under a Liberal government, Canada will invest in a strong and ambitious plan to: combat climate change; strengthen our Armed Forces and protect Canadian sovereignty; immediately increase help for Syrian refugees and offer training expertise for anti-ISIL forces; constructively support peace operations around the globe; and expand free trade in order to open markets to Canadian goods and services, grow domestic businesses, and create good-paying jobs.
Trudeau added: “We are a nation of diverse people – with roots in every part of the globe – living peacefully together. It is part of what makes us Canadian, and it is a strength that must be reflected in the way we approach the world.”
