TD Festival of South Asia , Ready to Spice Up Your Senses 

Members of the Gerrard India Bazaar, Chairman Chand Kapoor, Ward 30 Councillor Paula Fletcher and Mihiri Tillakaratne of Canada Dry gathered to celebrate the launch of the 12th annual TD Festival of South Asia. It take place Aug 23 & 24 on Gerrard Street East, between Coxwell and Greenwood.

(Toronto, August 7, 2014) Presented by TD Bank Group, the 12th annual Festival of South Asia will take place on Gerrard Street East, between Coxwell Avenue and Greenwood Avenue (Gerrard India Bazaar BIA), on August 23 and 24.

“What makes this festival truly unique is the vast showcase of the various South Asian cultures,” says Mr. Chand Kapoor, Chair of the Gerrard India Bazaar BIA. “We have arguably the largest gathering of South Asian cuisines, goods and services in North America. This is a fantastic opportunity for the GTA to truly experience the best that our BIA has to offer.”

The TD Festival of South Asia is one of the longest -running street festivals in Ontario and also one of the largest. Annually attracting 250,000 visitors over two days, the festival promises to spice up your senses with sumptuous cuisines from close to 30 member restaurants, live performances on stage, a fashion show, arts & crafts displays and children’s activities. New highlights of this year’s festival include Canada Dry Cricket Challenge, Toronto Raptors Mobile Fan Zone and a Festival Passport that offers special discounts at participating stores and restaurants in the BIA.

This is the fourth consecutive year for TD as the Presenting Sponsor of the event. Other sponsors confirmed to date include Celebrate Ontario, City of Toronto, Canada Dry, CUPE Local 79, Kijiji and Toronto Arts Council. Prime Advertising is this year’s event producer.
