Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have arrested and charged a Brampton youth for a fatal collision in the City of Brampton.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, at approximately 9:10 p.m., the victim, 24-year-old Sumit Kataria from Brampton, was operating his vehicle when he was involved in a collision at the intersection of Mavis Road and Clementine Boulevard in Brampton.
The victim was transported to a trauma centre, where he died from his injuries.
The driver in the other vehicle was not injured.
On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the driver, at the time of the offence was a 17-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with the following offence:
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
