Amazon Canada employees celebrate the country’s 10th Prime Day delivering smiles across the country!

Amazon’s Prime Day is back delighting customers, with big savings, Amazon exclusive deals, and new
product launches on July 11th and 12th 2023. Prime members purchased more than 300 million items
worldwide during Prime Day 2022. In fact, Prime Day 2022 was the biggest Prime Day event ever, with
Prime members saving over $1.7 billion worldwide. It was also the biggest Prime Day event for Amazon’s
selling partners, most of whom are small and medium-sized businesses, whose sales growth in Amazon’s
store outpaced Amazon’s retail business. Today we got a chance to look behind the scenes at Amazon’s
world class logistics network in Brampton where employees were thrilled to deliver millions of packages
during Prime Day 2023.
“Our employees look forward to Prime Day every year,” said Arjun Kalyanasundaram, Director of
Operations. “We have an entire calendar of events every month where we engage employees with
competitions, giveaways and special snack days which keeps the excitement high. The safety and health
of our employees is also a top priority, especially during Prime Day week, and we provide resources for
their success, build time for regular breaks, and work directly with anyone who needs additional support.”
We were able to visit the site’s Wellness Zone, where employees have access to a verity of tools dedicated to stretching and they are able to engage with dedicated staff. “We’re here to help the associates on the floor and at the Wellness Zone,” said Caleb Leary, an on-site wellness specialist. “We make sure they are able to use the equipment to stretch their bodies and we also answer any questions they may have related to their health, safety and wellness. Our employees told us in a recent survey that it really makes a difference to their work-days.”

This year marks 10 years of Prime in Canada, with over 4,500 cities and towns eligible for Prime FREE OneDay delivery in Canada. Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa are among the top cities that have ordered the most items via Prime FREE One-Day Delivery in a single year. Even Iqaluit (NU), one of the most remote cities in Canada, receives Prime orders in just 3 to 5 days.

It is also this facility’s seventh Prime Day, and Arjun’s eighth Prime Day at Amazon. “One of the things I
enjoy the most about Prime Day is that it really helps us identify and grow our future leaders,” he said in
reflection, “Since I’ve been here, we’ve had four employees grow from hourly employees to leadership in
a short time and Prime Day was critical to that growth.” In addition to the on the job experiences Amazon employee’s get during events like Prime Day, they are also able to participate in upskilling programs such the Career Choice program. Our Career Choice program allows us to pre-pay 95% of our employees’ tuition and fees for courses, helping employees significantly advance in their careers at Amazon and beyond.
Prime Day is an exciting day for Prime members, and employees alike, and we look forward to all of the
fantastic deals available on amazon.ca.
