The Government of Canada is committed to supporting tourism and community infrastructure in
southern Ontario by ensuring local businesses, and the organizations that support them, have the
tools they need to position themselves for a strong and resilient economic future.
Today, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic
Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament
for Brampton South, joined Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillor Rod Powers for an official
unveiling of the City of Brampton Tourism Sign.
The federal government provided more than $344,000 towards developing a marketing and
outreach strategy on tourism and to design and install our own City of Brampton sign in downtown
Brampton as part of a larger tourism strategy and to attract more visitors to our city.
This investment is part of a recently announced total combined investment of $1.6 mln to support 3
projects in Brampton South under the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) and the Canada Community
Revitalization Fund (CCRF).
The initial announcement was made at an event hosted by the City of Brampton, which is receiving
a non-repayable contribution of $1.6 mln, under the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF)/Canada Community
Revitalization Fund (CCRF), to the City of Brampton.
