Officers from the Peel Regional Police Safer Roads Team (SRT) have arrested a Mississauga man with a long history of illegal driving behaviour.
SRT officers utilize evidence-based enforcement to target aggressive and high-risk drivers within Peel Region. SRT officers target offenders by using various investigative tactics and analytics to track high-risk drivers that pose an increased risk to public safety within our community.
SRT officers identified Saad Rafiq Bhatti, a high-risk driving offender residing in Mississauga. In April 2022, Bhatti was charged with the following driving-related offences:
- Operation while impaired
- Fail to stop after accident
Bhatti was convicted for fail to stop for police in February 2023, and is currently on two separate driving related prohibitions.
On Friday, March 3rd, 2023, 11 Division patrol officers arrested Bhatti and charged him for dangerous operation. He was released on a court order b with driving related conditions.
On Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, SRT observed Bhatti again operating a motor vehicle dangerously in the Region of Peel. On Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, he was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Fail to comply with Undertaking
- Dangerous Operation
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
- Drive while under suspension
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
Bhatti was held pending a bail hearing.
