Region of Peel- Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Youth Criminal Investigations Bureau are investigating online threats to several schools in Mississauga and Brampton.
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, investigators were made aware of online threats on social media. These threats indicated that on Friday, March 10, 2023, someone would attend six named Peel Region secondary schools, intending to “shoot them up”. The following are the identified schools:
- Holy Name of Mary Secondary School
- Louise Arbour Secondary School
- St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School
- Notre Dame Secondary School
- Chinguacousy Secondary School
- Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School
Police and school administrators from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District and Peel Public School Boards take the threats seriously and continue working together on safety plans and strategies. Investigators are actively investigating and exhausting all leads to identify the source of this threat.
“We understand that the threats made are concerning to students, school staff, administrators, parents and the community at large. Our Youth and Cyber Support Service investigators are working on identifying those responsible. The safety and well-being of our schools is extremely important to us. We have coordinated with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel Public School Board to ensure that safety plans are in place,” said Jean-Paul St. Jules, Inspector of 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.
